The Craft Box News & Happenings ~ September 2020

* We are open from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Saturdays. We will be closed Monday, Sept. 7th for Labor Day.
* The Colorado Statewide Mandatory Mask Order requires all people over 10 years of age entering a business in Colorado to wear a mask. Please wear your mask properly, covering both your nose and mouth.
* We require customers to wash their hands, use hand sanitizer or put on gloves (provided by us) when entering the store.
* To honor social distancing protocols, we limit the number of customers in the store at one time to 5. Please follow the cues provided on the floor for your safety.
All home decorator fabric on tubes and ribbon on spools are 20% off this month.
We now sell Mettler Silk Finish Cotton Thread and King Tut Quilting Thread. We also now have Moda Bella solid fabric in their top 50 colors, $7.99 per yard.

September is a no-take month for us, so that we can get caught up with pricing and getting items out.
Whether you are bringing a donation or a drop-off for compensation, please inspect your boxes for pests that may have taken up residence. If we find evidence of bugs, moths, beetles or mice, we will immediately discard the items (if donated) or put outside and ask that they be picked up (if for compensation) and we will not accept future drop-offs from that person. Thank you for your diligence and understanding.
Please, no dumping or donations left at the building after hours or without our knowledge.

We have a new charity this month: Make Me a Child. Fran, Jan and their volunteers prepare doll sets for distribution at the Arapahoe Santa Claus House in December every year. The sets include a soft body doll (think Cabbage Patch), 3 dresses, pants or overalls and a shirt, shorts and top, pajamas, jogging outfit and a blanket, all packed into a handmade tote bag. They need people willing to sew the doll clothing and tote bags and also need donations of Cabbage Patch or similar dolls or heads. Please email them at makemeachild1@gmail.com for more information or to volunteer. The Craft Box will be a pickup and drop off point for the kits and finished items.
We still need sewists to make items for VNA. We have kits for catheter bag covers, please come by and take one, then make one! More information below:
We have been asked by The Visiting Nurse Association to make walker bags, catheter bag covers and lap blankets for their clients. We have found a walker bag online that works up nicely here and a volunteer has used Simplicity #2822 view B, we can provide the velcro and strapping needed for walker bags. The catheter bag cover is a simple, lined bag with a strap that can be undone, measuring about 13” x 13”. We have a printed pattern, or design your own. We have D rings available for the strap as well as Velcro for the top closure. We also have fabric from our charity shelves, just let us know and we will provide what you need. As for lap blankets, any pattern or fabric is good, as long as it is machine washable. A nice size for someone in a wheel chair is 36 x 42. At this time, we cannot have a work day here in the classroom but we would be happy to provide materials for people to sew at home.
